Cricket Ireland has announced that Elena Tice, the former Irish cricketer and current hockey international, will be part of the commentary team for the final match of the Ireland Women's Super 50 Series on Sunday (September 27).

Scorchers, who currently lead the series 4-3, will face Typhoons in the series decider, and the match will be live-streamed on Cricket Ireland's YouTube channel. In addition to Tice, the commentary team will also include former captain Isobel Joyce, former men’s captain Alan Lewis, RTE broadcaster John Kenny and cricket commentator, Andrew Leonard.

Tice represented Ireland 58 times between 2011 and 2015, taking 41 wickets, including best figures of 3 for 5 against the Netherlands in 2014.

“I loved my time as a cricketer, and all that I was fortunate enough to experience with the Irish team," Tice said. "Without doubt, my best memories would have to be at the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh in 2014, where we played at the Sylhet Stadium in front of big crowds."

The 22-year-old leg-spinner eventually went on to represent Ireland in hockey and won the World Cup silver medal in 2018. However, despite walking away from the game five years ago, Tice said that she keeps an eye on the development of her former teammates.

“I have followed the girls closely throughout the years since leaving cricket - it’s been awesome to watch and support them in all they have done. To be asked to commentate on this year’s Super Series decider is great - I can’t wait, it should be a great fixture.”
