New Zealand demolishes West Indies by a huge margin of 205 runs, leading to a clean sweep of the ODI series held at Christchurch, New Zealand. The third match, as a part of the ICC Women’s ODI Championship was an incredible all-round effort by the hosts.

West Indies won the toss and chose to field first. Suzie Bates, Amy Satterthwaite and Sophie Devine played brilliantly and helped the team to put up a huge competitive total of 310 runs on board; which proved to be a tough chase for the ladies from the Caribbean. Devine hit the 3rd consecutive 50+ score of the series, her previous scores being 108,80 and 73* respectively.

Laura Down who made her debut in this series, was promoted up the order in place of Sophie Devine to partner skipper Bates at the top. Even after the fall of a wicket in the 5th over, Amy Satterthwaite along with Bates put up a strong partnership of 150 runs that was a game turner and base for the White Ferns’ win. Captain Suzie Bates also played a match-winning knock of 89 runs. Devine entered the field to bat in the 31st over and turned all bowlers hope to dismay. She smashed a quick-fire 50 and led the Kiwi’s team get past the 300 runs mark effortlessly.

The West Indies team looked on no contention with the former Number 1 team. The Windies batters in no time had to return to the pavilion one after the other when Devine registered her career-best figures of 3 for 24. Hannah Rowe and Holly Huddleston picked up two wickets each, out of which the latter picked up the crucial wickets of Taylor and Matthews, giving New Zealand the much-needed early break-throughs. None of the batters could come to the rescue of the Windies team as they were bowled out for just 105 runs, which meant New Zealand comprehensively wrapping up the series with a win and lead the series by 3-0 margin. New Zeeland has now topped the Points table for the ICC Women’s ODI Championship.

Sophie Devine was adjudged the Player of the match for her all-round efforts of scoring 73 runs and picking 3 wickets in the match. Both the teams will now move to play the T20I series, with the 1st match scheduled to play on 14th March at Mount Maunganui.
