Bangladesh and Ireland have joined the top eight teams for the upcoming ICC Women’s World T20 2018 after qualifying in the ICC World T20 qualifiers in the Netherlands earlier this year. They were also a part of the tournament in 2016 as well, they joined the party after their feats in the qualifier in Thailand.

"We know we are the lowest-ranked team and we have a massive task ahead of us, but we are here to cause upsets," told Kim Garth, the vice-captain of Ireland. "We have been working really hard the last couple of years. We would love if we could automatically qualify for the next world cup . That is quite a realistic target for us."

"Our main focus would be beating Pakistan in our group game because if we beat them and everybody else beats them, we don't have to qualify for the next , we automatically qualify for the one in Australia," explained Lucy O'Reilly, the medium pacer of Ireland.

"We don’t want to again play the qualifiers," Rumana Ahmed, the ODI captain, told. "We want to have our team in the top eight."

Both the teams have been included in the ICC Women’s Championship from the next cycle, after the ICC Women’s World Cup 2021 in New Zealand. "That’s been our goal as a team, to be in the top eight ," told O’Reilly. "It will be an amazing opportunity. More cricket, first of all, which is what we need to improve."

Bangladesh is currently riding high on success. They beat India twice in the Asia Cup 2018 including the final and they won the Qualifiers as well. Bangladesh will start their campaign against West Indies on November 9 at Providence Stadium, Guyana while Ireland will face Australia on November 11 at the same ground.
