A record consecutive third 50+ innings in three innings by Ellyse Perry followed by two important wickets helped Sixers to a win over Thunder in the first Sydney derby clash of the season at the North Sydney Oval.

After winning the toss, Perry decided to bat first and both she and Healy got the Sixers off to a good start scoring 41 in the powerplay. After being in exceptional form over the past few months, Alyssa Healy lost her control getting trapped on leg by a Taylor ball. Taylor made in 2 in 2 with Gardner giving an easy catch to Bates at short midwicket. Erin Burns who joined Perry was in no mood to stop the run rate smashing balls to all corners of the ground. Sixers were 69/2 in 10 with Burns and Perry going strong.

As Burns looked set for her first fifty of this season, a Perry return ball to Taylor got her short off the non-striker's crease as she lost her wicket on a well-made 22-ball-44. Dane van Niekerk, just like the last game, joined her skipper to finish the proceedings putting up a total of 168 on the board.

Thunder never looked in control losing their top 4 wickets (Haynes, Priest, Stalenberg and Blackwell) inside 8 overs with 35 on the board letting out a out to chase for Kaur and co. Ash Gardner was the first to pick Haynes early for 13. Cheatle, who had not so good performances opening the bowling came as one change today and took Stalenberg immediately caught by her captain at mid on. A direct hit by Dane van Niekerk sent Priest packing as Thunder tumbled on 25/3.

Perry picked up her first wicket, with a bouncer to the Thunder captain and gets caught brilliantly by Aley diving forward from mid on. The Kaur-Taylor partnership couldn't go long as Taylor became the second wicket of the captain for 13. Harmanpreet Kaur looked to have rescued the Thunder's side lost partners and ultimately succumbed to pressure trying to come out of the crease but getting bowled by Lauren Cheatle on 44.

Rene Farrell hit some late shots with 4 fours and a six to race to 20-ball-33 not out but couldn't take her side home. Sixers beat Thunder by 36 runs. Thunder will face Heat tomorrow at the same ground.
