Veda Krishnamurthy is hopeful to do good in the World T20

New Update
One of the best fielders and middle-order batter of India team, Veda Krishnamurthy, has been going through a rough patch for the last couple of months; but she is looking forward to setting things in place in the upcoming World T20 in November.

Krishnamurthy, who's 45-ball 70 helped India win over New Zealand in the ICC Women's World Cup last year, has somehow lost that phase of scoring big after her 177 runs in the 6 innings during India's tour to South Africa. She scored only 51 runs in the Asia Cup, including the highest score 29 against Pakistan. She scored mere 40 runs in the 3 matches in the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka.

While talking about her performance, she told to the Times of India, "The last good series I had was the one against South Africa (in February). After that, I hit a lean patch. But I'm not losing sleep over it because I can't afford to get weighed down by the situation."

She further added, "I can't let myself down. If I do, then it is going to destroy all that I have worked for through my career. So, it is important for me to put my head down, work on my game and get the flow back. I've been working hard in that direction."

India is placed in Group B along with Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Ireland in the upcoming World T20. It wouldn't be easy for India to win, but they are preparing a lot by attending camps and playing international series. Krishnamurthy stated, "As a team, we have been preparing for the World Cup through the bilateral series and at national camps. Our immediate aim is to get past the group stages. It is a tough pool with Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan, who can be dangerous on their day,"

After having lost the ICC Women's World Cup by 9 runs last year, the expectation is high from this side to win the World T20 this year. Being aware of the pressure, Krishnamurthy cited, "I wouldn't say we will be under pressure. Instead, I think, we have set high standards and now it is important for us to stay close to it. We want to make sure we play quality cricket and get better day-by-day. We don't worry about what people say, but we want to stick to what we have outlined for ourselves as a team."
