India’s proposed series against South Africa and West Indies hit an uncertainty after have been no confirmations from both the boards over their availability. Earlier this month, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, announced that the women’s side will have a camp somewhere around in October before they play against the Proteas. The players then head to UAE for the Women’s T20 Challenge following which India face West Indies.

While there has been no announcement regarding the resumption of cricketing activities in the Windies, Cricket West Indies CEO Jonny Grave told The Indian Express, “The pre-COVID plan was to tour India this November to reciprocate the tour we hosted in 2019, but it’s early to say whether we can travel to India or whether they will be able to safely host us.”

South Africa pulled out of their tour to England earlier this month due to travel restrictions put up by the government. To add more to that, the situation in the board is also not good following the resignation of president Chris Nenzani. Even the CEO’s position is vacant. According to reports, Cricket South Africa will have an AGM early September and is expected to take a decision on their tour to India.

Women’s CricZone spoke to a senior player in the side and she revealed that nothing from the BCCI has been communicated yet. Even the Board hasn’t finalised anything on the Women’s T20 Challenge which is to be staged in UAE between November 1 and 10. This website also got in touch with some domestic and foreign players who were a part of the three-team event last year. “No we haven’t received any call from the BCCI yet regarding the Women’s T20 Challenge,” said one of them.

After the resignation of general manager Saba Karim, the BCCI is yet to appoint a replacement resulting in no person taking care of decisions regarding women’s cricket. “There hasn’t been any discussion on a host city, leave alone the bubble. Maybe in a week or two, there will be clarity,” a BCCI official told The Indian Express.
