UAE team announced for the ICC Women's WT20 Global Qualifier

ICC Women's World T20 2018 is the most awaited tournament for the Women's cricket lovers. The preparations are going speedily for the qualified teams. On the other side associate nations are rubbing their shoulders hard to get qualification for the Mega Tournament.



As Qualifiers head up, Emirates Cricket Board has announced the squad that will represent the UAE at the upcoming ICC Women’s WT20 Global Qualifiers to be played in the Netherlands. The Qualifier will take place from July 3-14, 2018.



UAE is drawn into Group A which will see them compete against Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea and the hosts Netherlands. The team includes 14 members, Humaira Tasneem being named as the captain of the tournament. The squad is a balanced side with experienced batswoman and bowlers. For additional balance, special all-rounders are also named in the squad. Two players Samiya Salim and Shivani Sathe are named as the reserve.



The team will have an experienced newcomer in the form of Chamani Seneviratne. She is a former Sri Lankan women’s team captain and has played in five World Cups before. However, a notable omission is former UAE captain Charvi Bhatt, who has been a consistent performer.

Our women’s team continues to go from strength to strength, (and) we are exceptionally proud of both the players and the coaching team’s unwavering dedication and commitment. We are confident they will put forward a very challenging and convincing campaign. We wish them a very successful 2018 Global qualifier, and to see our vision and goal to qualify and compete in the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 come to fruition.”
