Teams and fixtures for India U-23 Challenger Trophy announced

BCCI have announced the fixtures and the teams for the upcoming U-23 Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy. The All-India Women’s Selection Committee has selected 39 players for the series. The series is scheduled to be played at Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadeyar Ground in Mysore from 4th to 8th of October, 2018.

India Red, India Blue, and India Green team will compete once with each other and the top two teams in the point table will face each other in the final. This series will play a major boost in India's domestic circuit. Three teams have full of top performers at the domestic level, who are on verge of their selection to the national team; whereas there are Devika Vaidya and Nuzhat Parween, who have already tasted the flavour of playing in the national level.

Devika Vaidya, who was ruled out of the Senior Women's T20 Challenger Trophy last month due to dengue, has returned to the squad. She will play for India Blue team. There are few players who got the chance to play in the Senior Women's T20 Challenger Trophy in August, will again be showcasing their talents here too.

India Red Team will be led by Tanusree Sarkar while India all-rounder Devika Vaidya will lead India Blue Team. S. Meghna will lead India Green Team in this tournament.

Rituparna Roy, the coach and Consultant of Women's Senior Team in Cricket Association of Bengal, will coach the India Red team. Kerala Women's Team coach Suman Sharma will coach the India Blue team whereas Pushpanjali Banerjee, the coach of Himachal Women's Team will coach the India Green Team.

This tournament will help to bring good players into the national squad in the future.
