West Indies did not start life as a combined team but in the 1973 World Cup as two separate teams Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. It would be another three years before West Indies would make their international debut in a test series since then they have only played 12 tests.
It would take until 1993 for the West Indies to play their first game in a World Cup.
West Indies won the 2016 World T20 having been semi-finalists in the previous two competitions. It is a competition that best suits the players at their disposal and they will host the 2018 competition.
It is a reflection of the mark the Women’s side is making that Stafanie Taylor had a ground named in her honour.
