Team History

Ireland are a team that have the unique status of having played both test and ODIs before their male counterparts. One of the more established sides in Europe, they sit just inside the top 10 sides in the world. Ireland played their only test match in 2000 against Pakistan. They have taken part in five world cups and reached the quarter-finals in 1997.

Ireland has been able to arrange fixtures with some of the top sides in the world due to their proximity to England.

Irish international players in Isobel Joyce and Kim Garth have played in the WBBL in Australia, Joyce captaining Hobart Hurricanes and Garth being part of the successful Sydney Sixers. Ireland regularly takes part in England’s county T20 competition.
