Tammy Beaumont, England’s opening batter, was the most notable absentee from the first round of draft picks for The Hundred— Women’s competition. 16 players were selected by eight teams— two per team— by a process which allowed players to either accept or reject offers made to them. It is likely the right-hander turned down the offer made to her. She will appear in the stage two of the selection process.

Amongst the currently contracted England players, Georgia Elwiss, Jenny Gunn, Alex Hartley and Alice Davidson-Richards remain unpicked as well.

The names of the competing teams were confirmed too.

Former Western Storm duo, Heather Knight and Freya Davies were picked by London Spirit, while Amy Jones and Kirstie Gordon, the Loughborough Lightning pair, will represent Birmingham Phoenix. Sophie Eccleston and Kate Cross will turn out for Manchester Originals, and Trent Rockets have gained the services of Katherine Brunt and Natalie Sciver.

The following are the players selected by each team:

Birmingham Phoenix: Amy Jones, Kirstie Gordon

London Spirit: Heather Knight, Freya Davies

Manchester Originals: Sophie Ecclestone, Kate Cross

Northern Superchargers: Lauren Winfield, Linsey Smith

Oval Invincibles: Laura Marsh, Fran Wilson

Southern Brave: Anya Shrubsole, Danni Wyatt

Trent Rockets:Nat Sciver, Katherine Brunt

Welsh Fire:Katie George, Bryony Smith
