Adelaide Strikers continue to be haunted by injury issues in the season six of Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). Skipper Suzie Bates, who returned to lead the squad against Melbourne Stars on November 10, has been ruled of this weekend’s matches at least.

33-year-old Bates suffered a shoulder injury during the ODI series between New Zealand and Australia in Brisbane last month. She didn’t feature in the first seven matches for the Strikers, but on her return, she re-injured her shoulder during the Stars match on Tuesday. She will have to sit out of the weekend’s matches at the minimum.

It’s not all doom for the Stirkers as they will be bolstered by the return of West Indies allrounder Stafanie Taylor when they take on Brisbane Heat at the Drummoyne Oval on Saturday (November 14). Taylor missed the Stars match after sustaining a quadricep injury during the game against Melbourne Renegades last Sunday.

Katie Perkins, who chipped in as the replacement player when Suzie Bates wasn’t available, has been added to the Strikers squad along with Taylor.

Strikers are currently at number five in the points table with seven points to their credit from eight matches.
