Cricket South Africa has announced an 18-member squad for the ODI and T20I series against Pakistan on Friday (January 15). Sune Luus would be leading the team in the absence of injured Dane van Niekerk.

Speaking about the squad, head coach Hilton Moreeng said that he is excited about this group they have selected. "The players have a great opportunity to continue with the great strides they have made at this level and also opportunities to the young ones," the coach said.

Moreeng added that Luus, who has led the team with composure in the past is expected to continue her good work in the upcoming tour as well. “There are several talented youngsters, who show exciting potential and giving some of them an opening will not only increase the squad’s depth but increase competition for places," he concluded.

Both the teams are making a comeback to international cricket since the T20 World Cup in Australia, last year. Although a few South African players had participated in the Women's Big Bash League and the Women's T20 Challenge, it would be their first assignment in the last ten months as a team.
