Sri Lanka police questioned five Indian nationals after Sri Lanka Cricket's anti-corruption unit flagged them during the third One Day International between Sri Lanka and India on September 16 at Katunayake. Police helped the anti-corruption unit to remove them from the stadium when they noticed that those five Indian nationals were using the mobile phone excessively.

It was the last ODI of three-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and India, where Sri Lanka thrashed India's dream to whitewash the series. Though India won the series by 2-1. Both the teams will face each other for 5 T20 matches which will start from September 19 at the same venue where the incident took place.

The SLC Anti-Corruption Unit also informed the ICC (International Cricket Council) of this incident.
