Sourav Ganguly, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president and former India captain, began home quarantine on Wednesday (July 15) after his elder brother Snehasish Ganguly tested positive for COVID-19.

Snehasish, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) secretary, is currently admitted to the Belle Vue hospital in Kolkata after his test results came as positive, the PTI reported. "He was suffering from fever for the last few days and his test report came positive today. He's been admitted to Belle Vue Hospital," a CAB official said.

"The reports arrived late in the evening. As per health protocols, even Sourav will have to be in home quarantine for a stipulated period," a source close to the BCCI President was quoted as saying.

Snehasish, a former Bengal player, shifted to Ganguly’s ancestral house in Behala after his wife and in-laws tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

The BCCI Apex Council is scheduled to meet on Friday(July 17) to discuss the Future Tours Program for the men’s and women’s teams, while also finalising the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the resumption of cricket in the country. Sourav Ganguly is expected to be part of the meeting that will held virtually.
