Mandhana recently was the third top scorer of the ICC Women's World T20 having scored 178 runs including a match winning 83 against eventual champions Australia in the last group game which India won.
Smriti Mandhana already has hit a century in the state (Tasmania) against Australia (her maiden ODI century) in 2016 at the Blundstone Arena. Mandhana also holds the record for the fastest T20I half century for India.
She recently also claimed the Player of the Tournament honours in the third season of the Women's Cricket Super League in England having scored 421 runs including a century for her team Western Storm and is all excited to represent the Hurricanes.
"I'm really excited to have another opportunity for the WBBL this summer", she said. "I've heard from many players that the Hurricanes group is a great squad to be around and I can't wait to get to Tasmania for the matches."
Salliann Briggs is quite delighted with the latest signing.
"Mandhana is proven on the world stage, we saw that just last week with her knock against the Aussies. I can't wait to see her in purple. She's not only an exciting addition for us, but for the whole competition", she said.
The Hurricanes will begin their campaign on December 1 against Perth Scorchers in Melbourne.
