Simon Insley appointed Cricket Tasmania General Manager of High Performance

Cricket Tasmania is pleased to appoint Simon Insley as its new General Manager of High Performance.



Insley, who will commence the role in October, joins the Cricket Tasmania team after seven years working across cricket in New Zealand, most recently as High Performance Manager for Auckland Cricket.



Insley graduated as a physiotherapist in the United Kingdom and spent some time in private practice before joining Auckland Cricket. Initially engaged as the team physiotherapist, Insley soon became team manager of the Auckland Aces – an Auckland-based team in the New Zealand Domestic Twenty20 competition, the Super Smash; a role he held for three years. His subsequent promotion to Manager of High Performance for Auckland Cricket recognised his commitment to elite sport and his ability to forge strong partnerships, both domestically and internationally.



In the last twelve months, Insley has spent time as part of the team management group for New Zealand Cricket during tours of the New Zealand A side through the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan, as well as most recently with the Black Caps during their ICC Cricket World Cup campaign in England.



“I’ve been a keen follower of the Cricket Tasmania High Performance program for a few years now, and I’m excited to be joining the team,” said Insley. “Their women’s and men’s programs, through both the Tasmanian Tigers and Hobart Hurricanes, are held in such high regard that the opportunity to take it on was too good to pass up.”



Cricket Tasmania CEO Nick Cummins said the organisation is continuing to develop, and Insley’s appointment is the next chapter in that growth.
