Former Adelaide and Australian all-rounder, Shelley Nitschke, join Australia's coaching ranks after signing a two-year contract with the team as assistant coach.
Nitschke, who has played 122 games in Australian colours, joins former Australian international Ashley Noffke in a new look coaching team. The pair brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the national squad having played key roles at the state and WBBL level and will work alongside current coach Matthew Mott.
In addition to helping prepare the team for upcoming tours against the White Ferns and the World T20 Championship later this year, Nitschke and Noffke will play a key role alongside Leah Poulton in developing young talent in the National Women’s Performance Squad.
Nitschke’s jovial approach and knowledge of the international game was appreciated by the side as she joined them on their victorious tour of India in March with current opener Nicole Bolton commenting on the integral role her skills as a spinner player in preparing bowlers for the tour of the subcontinent.
Nitschke will join the team later this month as the national squad meets in Brisbane to begin their preparations for the season ahead beginning with three T20 Internationals against New Zealand in September. /codes_iframe
