Series prediction: South Africa vs India - T20

New Update
The general consensus of the WCZ writer predictions for the SA-India T20 series seems to be leaning towards a win for South Africa.

Detailed predictions:

Yash Lahoti

After a fantastic ODI series, I expect the T20 series to be even better with the first two games live streamed and the final three broadcast live. Taking the teams into account, I expect India to win the series 3-2, since most of their players have been playing continuously for the past 3 months. On the contrary, only the likes of Niekerk, Kapp, Du Preez, Lee have been playing the WBBL and Wolvaardt not featuring in the squad. Expecting a tough contest between the two sides.

As far as T20s are concerned, SA may win the series by 3-2 or 4-1 because of the fact that most of their players have just arrived from one of the major T20 tournaments, i.e; WBBL 03 and a few even played in the KIA super League, which took place in England just after a month of the Women's World Cup 2017. Hence, among Ind and SA, SA right now possess the upper hand regarding the T20 series.

Ayushi Thakur

South Africa wins, 3-2 or 4-1

Despite India performing exceptionally well in the ODI series, the loss in the 3rd match reiterated what the team really lacks: consistency. If the top order breaks down early, then the entire batting order crumbles, which isn’t a good sign; and to add to that, several Indian players (like captain Mithali Raj, Punam Raut, Harmanpreet Kaur to a certain extent etc) are out of form right now, and going though a relatively run-less phase. Plus, with the exception of a few, the Indian team lacks big-hitters, a pre-requisite for T20s. South Africa, on the other hand, are a much better placed T20 Team, with WBBL experience and the presenceq of big hitters in the team, giving them a massive advantage.

Jamie Ramage

It will be a win for South Africa. There is genuine flexibility in the batting with Lizelle Lee leading from the front and Mignon du Preez can adapt to any situation and scores all around the ground. Don't discount Chloe Troyn who is suited to this format. On the bowling front Marizanne Kapp is economical and Dane van Niekerk is a cleaver bowler. What will dictate the score line is what kind of team India present.

Shruti Banerjee

South Africa will win the series by a 3-2 margin.

After an exciting ODI series, it's expected that the T20 series is going to be even more exciting. Although India won the ODI series, South Africa bounced back in the last encounter in an impressive way. India opener Smriti Mandhana, and middle order batter Veda Krishnamurthy are both in formidable form but other batters couldn't perform well and to win the T20 series, ODI skipper Mithali Raj, allrounder Harmanpreet Kaur and other batters have to score big. In comparison, barring the first two games of the ODI series, South Africa skipper Niekerk, Kapp, Du Perez, and Lee all are in good form.

Although Indian bowlers are in good form, the South Africa bowlers were exceptional in the last ODI and will try to keep their momentum going on in the T20 series as well. Moreover, India needs to be better in the fielding also.

So, clearly, South Africa team will have an advantage and are ahead of India team in this series.
