Cricket Tasmania has named former White Ferns player Sara McGlashan as their new Female Pathway Head Coach.

McGlashan's international career spanned from 2002 to 2016, featuring 134 One-Day Internationals, 76 T20 Internationals and two Test matches.

Her final professional appearance came on Australia Day this year in the WBBL|04 Final for the Sydney Sixers vs. the Brisbane Heat.

Right-handed batter McGlashan played in each season of the WBBL in magenta, amassing 923 runs in 64 matches at a strike rate of over 106.

Born in Napier on New Zealand's North Island, McGlashan moved to Hobart on Saturday and begins her new role developing Tasmania's up and coming female cricketers today.

Head Coach of the Female Program at Cricket Tasmania, Salliann Briggs, is thrilled to have McGlashan join the coaching staff at Blundstone Arena.

"It's very exciting to be able to bring another great person with a great volume of top level playing experience into our program," said Briggs.

"The goal of the pathway is to develop aspiring Tasmanian cricketers to the State and International level and we're confident appointing Sara is another big step in being able to do just that."

The role of Head Coach of the Female Pathway had been vacant since its first-ever full-time Head Coach, Alex Pyecroft, debuted for the Tasmanian Tigers Sheffield Shield side last summer.
