Assam vs Punjab: Gayatri's 42, Rashmi's three-for guide Assam a comfortable win
Having won the toss, Assam chose to bat first. Openers Gayatri Gurung and Jyotika Rai gave a flying start before Jyotika Rai fell for 25. Captain Rashmi Dey soon followed her to the pavilion. Gayatri scored a steady 42 off 50 and they put up a decent total of 105/8 at the end of the 20 overs. Kanika Ahuja picked up 3 wickets; while Kashvi Gautam bagged 2 and Amanjot Kaur, Pragati Singh and Nandani Sharma scalped 1 each for Punjab.
Chasing 106, Punjab lost their opener Srishti Rajput for a duck. Amanjot Kaur was the next to follow her in the hut. Middle-order batters failed miserably as they couldn't resurrect the innings. Rashmi Dey's three for 13, Nibedita Baruah, Kakoli Saikia and Bedoshree's 1 each helped Assam to restrict Punjab within 78 at the end of the allotted overs.
