Bangladesh demolished UAE by 8 wickets and continued their winning streak in the ongoing ICC Women’s World T20 Qualifiers. They are the jointly the unbeaten team in the tournament so far along with Ireland who dominated Group A.
Bangladesh dominated the innings by their bowling. UAE lost the last 8 wickets by for just 7 runs. The team was bundled out for an under-par score of 39 runs, which is the lowest score registered in the tournament this year. The spinners led the entire lineup, led by Fahima Khatun and Rumana Ahmed. The former became the 1st player to take a hat-trick in the Qualifiers-2018. Her attacking spell helped Bangladesh to seal the match and establish its dominance.
Bangladesh’s clinical field supremacy yielded 2 run-outs. Esha Oza was the highest scorer for the UAE team scoring 18. Bangladesh effortlessly chased the target within 7-overs, even though, they lost two wickets in quick succession, but it didn’t disrupt their way to reach the target. Sanjida Islam scored quickfire cameo of 15 runs to finish off the proceedings.
Subha Srinivasan and Nisha Ali picked up 1 wicket each. Fahima Khatun was adjudged the Player of the match for her match-winning figures of 4/8.
Bangladesh has demonstrated skill and perseverance to reach one-step away from its final target “World Cup entry”. Bangladesh will also need to nourish its strength that is the bowling attack and restructure their batting for the semi-final clash on July 12th.
