Sri Lanka registered a thumping win over Pakistan in the second T20I after the consecutive losses from the ODI series.

Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first. With the loss of one wicket, Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof and opener Nahida Khan started constructing the innings slowly. They added 30 runs in the first 6-overs.

It was Shashikala Siriwardene, whose off-break did a wonderful job. She snipped out in-form Maroof and Khan in her first over. Another in-form batter Javeria Khan also misjudged the delivery from Siriwardene and got dismissed in the 10th over. Nida Dar also got dismissed by a run-out in the same over. Pakistan lost their four crucial wickets within 10 runs.

Experienced Sana Mir tried her best to build a partnership but failed miserably. Fall of wickets at regular intervals ended their innings at a below-par score. Along with Siriwardene, Sugandika Kumari also bagged two crucial wickets of Mir and Sandhu. They both got dismissed in the 18th over. Bowling at the right length and impressive fielding restricted Pakistan within 72 runs on board.

While chasing, Sri Lanka lost their captain Atapattu’s wicket in the second over. Atapattu was dismissed after hitting three boundaries. In-form opener Anushka Sanjeewani started constructing the innings with Imalka Mendis before the later one got run-out. Sanjeewani built the innings well with Rebeca Vandort before her dismissal in the 12th over.

Nashra Sandhu and Nida Dar picked up a wicket each. Vandort along with Siriwardene chased down the total with ease and reached the target with 34 balls to spare.

Flash scores:

Sri Lanka 73/3 (A Sanjeewani 20, N Dar 1/5) beat Pakistan 72/10 (B Maroof 20, S Siriwardene 4/9) by 7 wickets.
