The only two teams without any points on the board faced each other in this game, hosts Malaysia and Thailand. Both the teams had lost their previous 2 games they played against others and stand last at the points table. It was a crucial game for both the teams to rise to the top.
As the game started today, Malaysia won the toss and chose to bat. Their openers Yaakop and Baret were sent with hope but Malaysia lost Yaakop on the first ball of the innings. They took two overs to hit one run but they were not steady. This cost them another opener scoring just one run.
Poor Malaysian batting continued scoring just 10 runs in 10th over and no player had touched a two digit mark and their highest run scorer Sasha just scored 9(13)*. These poor performances helped Thailand to restrict Malaysia for 36-8 (20) and this was the third time Malaysia scored less than 50 runs.
With this small target to hit, Thailand openers Chantham and Chaiwai were sent into the crease. They gave a steady start by scoring 10-0 in their second over. Chantham departed scoring 6(12) at the end of 4th over. Chaiwai and Saengsakaorat stood up till the last scoring 20(28)* and 8(14)* respectively; which helped Thailand to mark their first victory in this Asia cup.
