Sri Lanka took an easy victory in an encounter which seemed pretty competitive on paper at the start of the game. It was an all-round effort that led Sri Lanka to win their first game of the tournament. Captain Siriwardene won the toss and decided to bowl first.

It was not a good start for Bangladesh as in-form Shamima Sultana got out for a duck on the second ball of the game to Prabhodini. Fargana Hoque was soon to join her in the pavilion in the very 2nd over. ODI skipper Rumana Ahmed and top scorer Ayasha Rahman tried to steady the ship for Bangladesh as they lasted 47 balls adding 25 before Rahman (11) dropped her wicket. Ahmed (10) soon followed her in a space of 4 balls. The only other person to score in double figures was NS Joty scoring 10 as Bangladesh were bowled out for 63 in 19.3 overs.

It looked a very easy chase from the beginning for the Sri Lanka openers as their first wicket went for 39 during the 9th over when Mendis (20) gave an easy catch to Fahima Khatun. Khadija Tul Kubra took two more wickets of opener and top scorer of the game Nipuni Hansika (23) and Hasini Perera (6). The effort came in a losing cause as Sri Lanka won comfortably by 6 wickets.

Sugandika Kumari was awarded the Player of the Match for her match figures of 4-0-17-3.
