Batting was one of Australia’s stronger suits heading into the T20 World Cup but in their first two matches against India and Sri Lanka, their batters failed to step up. As a result, they slumped to a loss against India while were pegged back against the Lankans, before managing to eke out a win.

Alyssa Healy said that they have taken a long look at the mirror, which reflected in their thumping win against Bangladesh.

“We’ve spoken about not doing our job as a batting group, so to go out there and put a good score on the board on a low and tricky wicket was pretty great,” said the wicketkeeper-batter.

“There’s been a lot of pressure on us to perform as a batting group, we haven’t felt that from the inside, but we’ll take a lot of confidence from executing our skills. Those tough discussions are part and parcel of being an elite sports team and being a really tight-knit group like we are. It’s not always easy to be honest but this team really seems to be quite good at it and we can call things out when they happen.”

While Healy blasted 83, her opening partner Beth Mooney hit 81 in 58 balls. The pair strung a record 151-run opening stand. Healy said that they had identified the areas to work on and are pleased with the outcome.
