Rajiv Risodkar, a former BCCI umpire, has translated the Laws of Cricket to Hindi, which have now been uploaded on the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) website.

The 58-year-old officiated matches between 1997 and 2016.

"It is a matter of pride for the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) that the Hindi translation of the Laws of Cricket (The 2017 code 2nd Edition 2019) framed by MCC is now available on the official website of this prestigious club," Sanjeev Rao, MPCA's honourary secretary told Press Trust of India on Friday (July 24).

Risodkar, who now works as a BCCI Level 3 umpire educator, said the point of translating the text was to help the large number of Hindi-speaking umpires around the country. He added that the text would help educators too.

"Traditionally, the language of cricket rules is considered as English. On the proposal of BCCI, I translated these rules into Hindi so that it can reach as many people as possible in this cricket-crazy nation," said Risodkar.

Risodkar took nearly a month to complete the translation.

The MCC's Laws of Cricket are now available to the public in 16 languages.
