It was a rainy start to the Super 20 series between Scorchers and Typhoons, wherein only ten balls could be bowled in game one on Monday (May 4) at Observatory Lane, Rathmines in Dublin.

Persistent rain prevented the match from starting on time. When it eventually stopped, only five overs-a-side contest was possible. Orla Prendergast, who was captaining Typhoons, opted to bowl after winning the toss.

Gaby Lewis, who scored two half centuries in two games of the Super 50 series, continued her run-scoring ways. She swiftly moved to 14 off just nine balls, hitting three fours in the process before heavens opened up, preventing any further play.

The next Super 20 fixture is on June 13 while the teams now continue the Super 50 series with the third round scheduled for May 9.

Brief Scores: Scorchers 18/0 in 1.4 overs (Gaby Lewis 14*) v Typhoons. Match abandoned due to rain.
