New Update
Rachel Trenaman, 16, a budding Australian cricketer, who earlier played for ‘Australian Governor-General’s XI’ (an Australian domestic cricket team which can be seen in action in WBBL/03), has now been promoted to the full squad of Sydney Thunders after being Sydney Thunder’s ACT and Regional Rookie last season.

“It was great to spend last summer with the squad during the Big Bash period’’, said Trenaman who signed a two-year contract. ‘‘Getting to see how the likes of Alex Blackwell and the Internationals went about their preparations was a great experience’’, she added. Trenaman in last November, while she was still 15, became the youngest player to make a debut for the NSW Breakers in the 50 over format. But now with a T20 format for WBBL under her belt, Trenaman has been able to add her reputation as a star on the rise. It’s absolutely outstanding. It’s a pretty special feeling’’, says Trenaman.

This year, Trenaman was named in the Cricket Australia XI that will play tour matches against England ahead of the Ashes. Although Trenaman is a prolific run-scorer at underage level, she is primarily used as a leg-spinner while getting used to the high-level of international women’s cricket.

"Whatever I can do for the team, pick up a few wickets here and there, see how I go", she said. Sydney Thunder general manager Lee Germon is looking forward to welcoming Rachel Trenaman to the squad.

‘‘Rachel is an outstanding talent who has come through the CNSW and Sydney Thunder development programs’’, said Germon. Sydney Thunder will open their WBBL/03 campaign against the Melbourne Renegades on 9th December at North Sydney Oval.
