Grace Harris' allround show guided Queensland to a comprehensive win over Tasmania by 101 runs at the Souths District Cricket Club in Brisbane on Monday (September 23). Grace blasted a quick-fire 30 before she picked up three wickets late in the day to put Tasmania on the back foot. She was ably assisted by Georgie Prestwidge who broke the back of the top order with a four-wicket haul.

Her's sister, Laura Harris, top-scored for Queensland with a scintillating knock of 51 off just 30 balls. After Grace's early blitz, Laura's rapid knock was vital in giving her team the upper hand in the first innings. It helped lay the foundation to Queensland's eventual total 0f 240 in 49.5 overs.

Chasing 241 Tasmania didn't get the best of the starts, their top order crashing to 55 for 5 in 16 overs. It was Prestwidge who toppled the chase early, dismissing Meg Phillips (12), Stefanie Daffara (20) and Emma Thompson (4) within her first six overs. It was a spell that left the lower middle-order exposed and with far too much to do.

Brooke Hepburn and Erin Fazackerley tried to resurrect the innings but the pressure of asking rate eventually got to them. Fazackerley struck an enterprising 17-ball 22, including two fours and a six, while Hepburn focused more on batting through the innings. She stuck it out for 48 deliveries before being dismissed by Grace for 25 - Tasmania's top scorer of the innings.

The visitors were eventually bundled out for 139 in 40.2 overs. Prestwidge was the wrecker-in-chief with figures of 4 for 41. Grace took three wickets for 35 in her spell of 10 overs.

Earlier in the day, Queensland won the toss and opted to bat first. They got off to a solid start as Grace Harris (30) and Kirby Short (22) put on a partnership worth 53 runs inside 10 overs. Following the departures of both openers Laura decide to take the lead role. She crashed eight boundaries and a six on her way to a half-century.

Although she was dismissed as early as the 18th over, the hosts continued on their merry way for the remainder of the innings. Josie Dooley, the youngster, scored an enterprising 45, and in the company of Prestwidge (17 not out) took Queensland past the 200-run mark.

Samantha Bates and Maisy Gibson picked up three wickets each and were the pick of the bowlers for Tasmania.
