BCCI has announced annual player retainership for the year 2018-19. The Supreme Court of India appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) for BCCI on Thursday announced the Annual Player Contracts for the period from October 2018 to September 2019.
While the pay structure for different categories remain same, there are a few changes with a few players being upgraded or downgraded and a few players being left out.
While Mithali Raj, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur continue with their Grade A contract, Jhulan Goswami has been relegated to Grade B with she retiring from the T20 format in August last year. Poonam Yadav, after two successful years at the top, finds herself with the Grade A contract alongside the Indian leadership.
Goswami joins Shikha Pandey, Ekta Bisht, Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues in the Grade B list with an annual retainer of INR 30 lakhs. Rodrigues finds herself upgraded to Grade A after a successful debut year in which she is now also the World No 2 ICC T20I ranked batter.
Both Railways players Veda Krishnamurthy and Rajeshwari Gayakwad have been demoted to Grade C after not finding place in the first XI regularly. They join Mansi Joshi, Anuja Patil, Mona Meshram, Punam Raut, Taniya Bhatia and Pooja Vastrakar who continue their place in the ‘C’ level contract from last year. They are also joined by D Hemalatha, Radha Yadav and Arundhati Reddy who earn a BCCI contract for the first time.
Sushma Verma and Nuzhat Parveen have no contracts to their name after not playing International cricket for over a year and not being named in any India sides since the Asia Cup last year. A total of 21 players have been given the contracts, a increase of two players compared to 19 which was the case last year.
