Points split between Windies and Proteas in a rain affected game

South Africa and West Indies split two valuable ICC Women's Championship points as the 2nd ODI between them has been washed out due to heavy rain. South Africa now lead the series by 1-0 in the three-match ODI series.

The match had already a delayed start due to rain and it became a 43 overs a-side-affair. Again 5 overs per side were reduced after the match got interrupted by rain. West Indies won the toss and elected to field first. Put into bat, South Africa managed to score 21 runs in the first 6 overs. Opener Laura Wolvaardt didn't trouble much as she was dismissed in the 7th over by giving an easy catch to the keeper Aguilleira. Lee's 29-ball 22 came to an end in the 10th over. Soon the star batter of the last match, Sune Luus joined her in the dugout after scoring 20 off 23.

They later found themselves struggling at 85 for 4 in 22nd over. Captain Dane van Niekerk stood strong from one end, adding 67-runs with vice-captain Chloe Tryon for the sixth-wicket before getting out for 53. Her 8th half-century came in 68 balls with 3 fours and a six. Tryon got out at 37 and South Africa posted a decent competitive total off 177 from their 38 overs with the loss of 8 wickets.

Deandra Dottin was the highest wicket-taker for the Windies (3/29) as she sent back Sune Luus, Lizelle Lee and Marizanne Kapp. But after the 1st innings, the rain returned again and umpires had to call off the game. Now West Indies will try to win the third ODI on Saturday to level the three-match ODI series, while South Africa will try to win their first bilateral series in the West Indies.
