With the upcoming Kia Super League season now only days away, we look at the players to watch. In the first of our series, we look at players that have not been capped by their countries. There are some obvious contenders and a couple that might surprise.

Sophia Dunkley - Surrey Stars

The Middlesex all-rounder was with the England squad that beat New Zealand last week. It is an indication that she is England’s plans and with the World T20 not too far in the future, it could be her chance to impress.

She was a part of the Middlesex team that won the county T20 cup this season. She is not only noted for her batting but takes plenty of wickets with spin. Mark Robinson is looking for players to stand up at all levels and Dunkley is certainly capable of doing just that.

Emma Lamb - Lancashire Thunder

Another player who was with the England squad recently shows that Lamb is another highly rated player. She is in good form with the bat, this season averaging 56.5 in the county championship opening the batting. If Eve Jones didn’t score runs, then Lamb did.

With the prospect of batting with the likes of Nicole Bolton expect Lamb only to get better.

Charlie Dean - Southern Vipers

Dean may only be 17 but she is highly rated by her county and Southern Vipers captain Suzie Bates. For Hampshire, this season, Dean has impressed. In the county T20 cup, she averaged under 10 with the ball and over 20 with the bat.

Sophie Munro - Yorkshire Diamonds

Not an obvious choice as there will be many England Academy players that people will ask why not someone else?

Munro who plays county cricket for Nottinghamshire has a good rhythm about her run-up and under the watchful eye of the likes of Katherine Brunt and Beth Langston expect Munro to improve as a bowler. She may not get many matches but the experience will do her good.

Sarah Glenn - Loughborough Lightning

Glenn has played four games for Loughborough Lightning and will look to become a regular this season. A hard-hitting batter who is also a good leg-spin bowler. She took 3 for 12 in a game for England Acadamy game at Trent Bridge against an Australian aboriginal side.
