Overview

Shamilia Connell is a Barbados cricketer. A right-arm fast bowler, made her international debut in September 2014, in a Twenty20 International against New Zealand. Her One Day International debut came a few months later, against Australia. In Women’s cricket we see many medium pacers but having a specialized fast bowler in team is very rare. Connell is of that rare breed.

Connell plays for Windies in both forms of the game. The 25 yr old is an integral part of the team forming the core along with Taylor, Mathews and Dottin. At the 2016 World Twenty20 in India, Connell was a member of the West Indian squad that won their first world title, featuring in all matches at the tournament. She has been compared to the retired West Indian fast bowler Joel Garner, reason because she is “tall, dangerously quick, and not scared to bowl bouncers”. She has a very young career by her side, so giving consistent performances may lead her to emerge as a great bowler.
