Overview

Footballer turned wicket-keeper batter, Singrauli born Nuzhat Parween is the first woman to be picked for the national team (cricket) from the Rewa division. Though cricket was not her first choice as she had represented Madhya Pradesh in football nationals and was a Gold medalist in state athletics (100m).

After meeting with the captain of the Indian team, Mithali Raj in a tournament, she decided to pursue cricket as her career like her idol. The craze for gloves made her the wicket-keeper batter in the team. With her dedication and hard work, she was selected in the national team within six years. She made her ODI debut against Ireland in the 2017 South Africa Quadrangular Series on 15 May 2017. She was a part of the Indian squad in ICC Women’s World Cup 2017.

Apart from cricket, Parween was a bright student at school; scored 92% in 12th boards and pursues B. Com, in a distance education course.
