First International woman cricketer from Uttarakhand, Ekta Bisht, made her ODI debut against Australia on 2nd July 2011. On October 3, 2012, she took a hat-trick during a match of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 played in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 3rd October 2012.
She became the captain of the Uttarakhand cricket team in 2006 and played for the Uttar Pradesh cricket team from 2007 to 2010 before moving to play for the Railways in 2012.
Her five wickets haul helped India to win against Pakistan in ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier last year and became the second highest wicket-taker in the series. She has another record of five wickets haul against Pakistan in the ICC Women’s World Cup, 2017; India won the series by 95 runs.
Bisht was a part of the finalist India team in 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup. In December 2017, she was the only woman named in both the ICC Women’s ODI Team of the Year and the ICC Women’s T20I Team of the Year.
