Hartley is a testament to the adage of never giving up. Dropped by both the England Academy, and her county academy- Lancashire, she joined Middlesex and has never looked back. Working hard for her new county and having impressed the England Coach Mark Robinson, Hartley eventually got the call-up for England and while it was a debut to forget against Pakistan, again Hartley fought back and yet again proved people wrong. She is also an important part of the Kia Super League side Surrey Stars.

Hartley was a part of the England side that won the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. It was an impressive tournament for the left-arm spinner as she took a number of high-profile wickets. With the emergence of Sophie Ecclestone, who ironically benefited from Hartley’s move away from Lancashire means that Hartley will again have to prove that she is England’s number one left-arm spinner and don’t bet against her doing just that.
