Ellyse Perry and Alyssa Healy moved up to take second and fourth positions, respectively, in the updated ICC Women’s ODI rankings for batters released on Thursday (September 12) after Australia whitewashed West Indies in a three-match ODI series.

Perry, who amassed 178 runs in the series, displaced Amy Satterthwaite as she advanced from third to second place in the batters list. She scored an unbeaten 112 in the second match against the Caribbean side.

Wicketkeeper-batter Healy claimed the fourth position in a list led by India’s southpaw Smriti Mandhana. Healy’s knock of 122 in the first game and a whirlwind 61 off just 32 balls in the third match helped her leapfrog three places. The player of the final match scored a total of 241 runs in the series - the most by a wicket-keeper in a three-match bilateral series.

For West Indies, the series was nothing but a disappointment. More so as the team suffered a clean sweep in the format at home for the first time since 2003. However, their skipper Stafanie Taylor’s efforts paid off as she gained two places in the batting charts to break in the top 10, following her tally of 114 runs which included an unbeaten 70.

Megan Schutt, the right-arm seamer, who had secured the top spot following the Ashes, retained the position in the bowling list after returning with five wickets including a hat-trick in the final ODI.

Perry, who was adjudged player of the series, continued to surge ahead in the allrounders rankings. She took five wickets including a three-fer in the first match.

Their teammate Ashleigh Gardner moved up six places to settle at the 10th position in the allrounders list. The 22-year-old scalped four wickets in the series with her off-spin and smashed a rapid 57 not out off just 25 balls in the second ODI.
