Australia are just unstoppable at the moment. They have pocketed yet another series as the opposition, West Indies, have faltered in the first two fixtures of the three-match ODI series.

On Sunday (September 8) Ellyse Perry scored an unbeaten 112 and notched her second ODI hundred along the way.

"I just sleep with it (bat) next to me, and it's a really good spooning partner at night, we're pretty close – my bat and I," a tongue-in-cheek Perry joked following the match.

But on a serious note she said, "Every now and then I need to do some running repairs and I've been trying to find something to make my bat a little bit lighter, which I haven't been able to do."

The all-rounder is having a stellar summer so far with both bat and ball. She notched her third century in the calendar year. With the ball, she troubled England batters time and again, and topped the wicket-takers chart across the multi-format Ashes series.

"It was cool to contribute today, it was a real shame with Meg (Lanning) going down before the game. But that, sort of, gave other people an opportunity and everyone stepped up. I really enjoyed my time out there in the middle today."

Perry was not satisfied with her ton as she kept steaming in with the ball in hand and bagged the first West Indies wicket to fall. This is what makes her so special, contributing in both the departments of the match.

"I was a bit lucky to be fair, getting dropped early but that seemed to wake me up a bit."

Perry got a bit emotional when she was called upon to present the cap to her close friend Erin Burns. She and Burns go a long way as they both played together in the age groups and Perry was happy for Burns.

"It’s been amazing. Erin has been there for a pretty long time. It got thrown on me in the last minute. I have a huge respect for her and for everything she has done as I have known her for a while now. I have seen her bowl over the years and the dynamic player that she is, she has fitted in straightway.

“She embodies a lot of what our team is about. She thoroughly deserved it after seeing the way she has gone about it in the last two years.”
