Niranjana Nagarajan’s maiden T20 hundred headlined day one of the Senior Women’s Twenty20 tournament. The right-hander from Tamil Nadu slammed an unbeaten 105 off 67 balls against Mizoram to lead her team to a massive 159-run win in their opening match of the season.

Meanwhile, Andhra’s N Anusha (82) and CH Jhansi Lakshmi (52) shared a massive 138-run stand for the opening wicket against Bihar to lay the foundation to their team’s 106-run win. Binaisha Surti slammed 74 against Hyderabad before Radha Yadav and Tarannum Pathan combined for figures of 7 for 34 to give Baroda a 25-run victory.

Among the bowlers, Uttarakhand’s Madhwal was the standout performer of the day finishing with incredible figures of 4 for 1 against Manipur. Her four over spell included as many as 23 dot balls. Elsewhere, Bengal’s might was too much for Arunachal Pradesh who despite playing out their entire quota of 20 overs managed only 23 runs.

Uttar Pradesh upset Himachal Pradesh by six runs in a thrilling Group D encounter, while Chandigarh lost to Chhattisgarh in their first ever match.

Group B will play their first round of matches in Nagpur on Tuesday (October 15).
