Hobart Hurricanes have sealed a massive coup as they have announced the signing of Australian all-rounder Nicola Carey.

In the off-season Carey moved to Tasmania from New South Wales and thus signed up for Hurricanes from Sydney Thunder.

Carey has been an important part of Thunder's squad as she played 59 WBBL matches for them. She almost took Thunders to the final of WBBL04, but fell to a brilliant catch on the boundary off the last ball. Carey represented Thunder in 59 matches in which she scored 482 runs and claimed 62 wickets.

Carey made her debut for Southern Stars during their tour of India in March 2018. She has represented the national team in 6 ODIs and 1 T20I.

In her final outing for New South Wales in WNCL Final earlier this year, she was declared player of the match for her 50 and 3 crucial wickets.

Hobart Hurricanes finished last in the table by winning only 2 of the 14 games. They will be hoping for a reversal of fortune with Carey's arrival.

Hurricanes' coach Salliann Briggs said, "Nicola clearly offers a lot with both bat and ball so with her international experience too, she's going to be a key signing for us."

Ahead of the World T20 taking place in Australia, Carey too expressed her enthusiasm in joining the new squad as she said, "I've heard a lot about the great group of players down here in Hobart and the way the program is heading too. I'm really excited to get into training and prepare for the upcoming summer."

Cricket Australia will soon reveal the fixtures of WBBL|05.
