The Bangladesh Cricket Board, on Wednesday (September 18), announced its 15-member squad ahead of the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup 2024 which is set to take place in the UAE in October. Wicketkeeper-batter Nigar Sultana Joty will continue to captain the side.

The ninth edition of the Women's T20 World Cup was moved from Bangladesh to the UAE on August 20 due to political instability and safety concerns in the former. However, the BCB will remain the hosts of the tournament.

A couple of changes have been made by Bangladesh for the T20 World Cup from the team that visited Sri Lanka in the Women's Asia Cup 2024 back in July. Leggie Fatima Khatun and batter Sobhana Mostary are back in the squad, while opener Shathi Rani, all-rounder Disha Biswas and uncapped batter Taj Nehar have also been included in the team.

All-rounder Rumana Ahmed is one of the major names who will miss out on the T20 World Cup. Along with her, Rubya Haider, Shorifa Khatun, Ishma Tanjim and left-arm spinner Sabikun Nahar Jesmin have also been left out of the squad.

A few players including Joty, Fahima, Shorna Akter, Rabeya Khan, Dilara Akter, Marufa Akter and Jahanara Alam are also a part of the 'A' squad in the Sri Lanka tour.

Bangladesh have been placed in Group B alongside 2009 winners England, 2016 winners West Indies, South Africa and Scotland. They will commence their campaign on October 3 against Scotland in Sharjah.
