Women's Premier League auction: 409 players ready to go under the hammer

Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma are among the 11 Indians with the base price of 50 lakh rupees in the Player Auction List for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).  13 overseas stars have registered in the highest base price bracket as well with Ellyse Perry, Sophie Devine, Meg Lanning, Deandra Dottin among them.



The much awaited inaugural edition will get underway in Mumbai in March. The five-team franchise tournament will be played from March 4 to March 26 in two venues with Brabourne Stadium and D. Y. Patil Stadium hosting the 22 matches.



The BCCI have announced the date for the Player Auction and it will be held in Mumbai at the Jio World Convention Centre on February 13. The Player Auction List has been pruned to 409 names from the registered 1525 players. 



There 246 India players and 163 overseas cricketers in the 409-list. There are also eight associate nation players with the governing body announcing that a total of five associate players – one per team can be bought at the auction. The teams are allowed to field five overseas players provided the fifth one is from an associate nation.



30 players have registered under the 40 lakh rupees base price bracket and the smallest base price for capped players is 30 lakh rupees. 



All the Indian players from the Under-19 T20 World Cup triumph has found a place in the list.
