Saee Purandare smashes ton; Pondicherry, Chandigarh continue dominant run

It was a day of low-scoring affairs as Nagaland, Bihar and Meghalaya registered victories over Jammu & Kashmir, Sikkim and Mizoram respectively in the Plate Group fixtures of Senior Women’s One-day Trophy on Sunday (March 1). The Mizoram versus Meghalaya encounter turned out to be a thrilling one with Meghalaya prevailing by just one wicket while chasing a target of 130. Saee Purandare was once again the star for Meghalaya with vital 41, before skipper D D Dutta chipped in with an unbeaten 16, in the end, to take her team over the line.

Elsewhere at Puducherry, Jammu & Kashmir failed lost to Nagaland by 11 runs. Electing to field first Jammu & Kashmir bundled out Nagaland to just 72, thanks to Chowdhary's three wickets for 12 runs. Chasing a low total, Jammu & Kashmir's batters couldn't get going as four of their batters Rubia Syed, Insha Bashir, Bismah Hassan and Sandhya were dismissed for ducks. Sheerazah Banoo top-scored with 15, before Pankul's match-winning spell of four for six, helped Nagaland register their fifth victory in the tournament and thereby helping them top the group. On the other hand, Sikkim lost their sixth consecutive match in the tournament losing by 60 runs against Bihar.

Bihar 155/8 in 50 overs (Sana Ali 56, Apurva Kumari 44; Shubhi Pandey 4/18, Shristi Rai 1/21) beat Sikkim 95 all out in 43.4 overs (Ananya Upendran 25; Rachana Kumari 2/20) by 60 runs.

Mizoram 129/9 in 50 overs (Apurwa Bhardwaj 25; D D Dutta 3/16, Ajima 2/19) lost to Meghalaya 131/9 in 47.4 overs (Saee Purandare 41; Buley Ruchita 2/22, Puipuii 2/32) by one wicket.
