Nadine de Klerk to lead South Africa Emerging against Bangladesh

Ismail and Chetty return as South Africa announce World T20 squad

Nadine de Klerk, the nineteen-year-old allrounder, will lead the South Africa Emerging team in their six-match home series against Bangladesh Emerging. The teams will face off in three one-day and three T20 matches between July 23 and August 4.



De Klerk has represented South Africa in six ODIs and 11 T20Is so far having made her international debut in 2017 against India. The squad also includes the likes of Trisha Chetty and Ayabonga Khaka, who have both been out of action since being ruled out of the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean last year.



Chetty last played an international match against Bangladesh in May last year. She suffered an injury just ahead of South Africa’s campaign in the Caribbean and had to be replaced by Faye Tunnicliffe at the last minute. Khaka, suffered a shoulder injury for which she required surgery, and has returned to competitive cricket after almost a year away.



The team has been selected based on this season’s national academy intake and includes Tamzin Brits, Lara Goodall, Sinalo Jafta, tumi Sekhukhune , Zintle Mali, Faye Tunnicliffe and Anneke Bosch, all of whom have played international cricket.
