Captain cool, the highest ODI run scorer in the world and master-blaster- Mithali Raj is undoubtedly Indian cricket’s newest role model.

Although India has had some outstanding female sports stars like Saina Nehwal, Deepika Kumari, Sakshi Malik and many more, the one female sports star recently raging a storm in the hearts of millions all around the world, has been none other than Mithali Raj.

This has been proved, when she found a place on the glamour magazine Vogue’s front cover when it celebrated its 10th Anniversary. She shared the front cover along with the one and only King Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) and businesswoman Nita Ambani.

On this occasion, Mithali tweeted,

Mithali Raj has been nothing but busy, since the team returned from the UK after the Women’s World Cup at the end of July this year. She has been to numerous felicitations; television reality shows and several women’s cricket promoting programmes.

Mithali Raj has also been under the spotlight ever since the women’s team defeated the current world champions Australia (Southern Stars) and paved their way to the World cup finals after 12 long years. She has been the face of women’s cricket in India for the past 18 years, and one of the biggest inspirations to many young girls who aspire to become successful players in a game that is still male-dominated.

Mithali Raj’s contribution and achievements had even caught the attention of international writers even before India made it to the Women’s World Cup finals. In an opinion piece in the British Vogue in June this year, writer Caroline O’Donoghue glorified the 34-year- old captain with a tribute piece.
