Domestic cricket in England would return when Surrey take on their rivals Middlesex at The Oval on July 22 in a T20 match for the London Cup.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had earlier announcement postponement of all professional cricket owing to the restrictions imposed in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. International cricket returned this week with England men taking on West Indies in a Test match from July 8.

This will be the first match played at The Oval since the lockdown measures came into effect in March. The match will be played under floodlights starting at 6PM GMT and will be live streamed on Surrey and Middlesex channels. The match will be played behind the closed doors.

Middlesex have dominated Surrey in the London Cup, since its inception in 2015, winning all five of the contests between the neighbours.

Ebony Rainford-Brent, Surrey Director of Women’s Cricket and Beth Morgan, Middlesex’s first female Honorary Life Vice President, will be in charge of the match and will work closely with the team management and support staff of both the teams.
