Melbourne Renegades has extended the contract with all-rounder Carly Leeson ahead of the seventh edition of Women's Big Bash League. The 2021 season will be her third year with the Renegades.

Speaking about the signing, Leeson said that she is thrilled to play for the Renegades again in WBBL07. “Last year was really good for me in terms of getting out there, playing games consistently and having the opportunity to contribute on the field," she said.

The allrounder played 13 matches in the sixth edition and finished as the joint leading wicket-taker for the Renegades with 11 wickets at 23.45. She also scored 78 runs at a strike rate of 114.71.

“Having that experience under my belt is really helpful and adds a layer of confidence for me, being out there and mixing it with the best players. Hopefully, I can contribute to us winning games and having some success this year.”

Simon Helmot, the Renegades head coach, believes Leeson has become a vital part of the squad with her performances in 2020. “She performed consistently with the ball and has shown the versatility to deliver at different stages of the game."

"With the bat, Carly showed glimpses of what she can do and her ability to find the boundary, which is something she can hopefully continue to develop. We believe Carly’s best cricket is ahead of her. We are excited to watch her grow.”
