Match Preview: Pakistan vs Ireland- Match 9

Date: November 12, 2018

Venue: Guyana National Stadium, Providence, Guyana

Pakistan have lost both their matches of the World Twenty-20. Australia inflicted a crushing defeat on Ireland in their opening match. Both sides will come into this match looking to bounce back. They will come in all guns blazing to earn some points to their name. Considering Pakistan has lost two matches, they are effectively out of the tournament. An extraordinary turn of events will need to take place if they are to qualify. So, their aim will be to win the remaining two matches, in order to avoid a repeat of their horror World Cup campaign last year, where they remained win less. Ireland caused a massive upset in the warm-up games when they defeated Sri Lanka by a convincing margin.

Players to Watch Out For:

Nida Dar (Pakistan)

Role: All-rounder

T20I's: 86

Batting Stats: Runs- 794; Average- 12.80; Strike Rate- 86.87; Best- 52

Bowling Stats: Wickets- 81; Economy- 5.02; Average- 16.45; Best- 5/21

Nida Dar is an experienced international. She is an integral part of Pakistan's spin attack and has recently come into her own as a batter as well. She scored a half-century against India in their last encounter and plays aggressively. She will need to play her part with both bat and ball to help Pakistan to their first win of the WT20.

Kim Garth (Ireland)

Role: All-rounder

T20I's: 37

Batting Stats: Runs-415; Average-18.86; Strike Rate- 71.67; Best- 38*

Bowling Stats: Wickets- 32; Economy- 5.86; Average- 19.34; Best- 3/6

At just 22 years of age, Kim Garth has plenty of experience under her belt. She plays for the Sydney Sixers in the WBBL, along with representing Ireland. Yesterday, while her teammates were being taken for runs, Garth impressed with the ball, against Australia. She claimed their only wicket to fall; Beth Mooney's. She has also been a vital part of their batting line-up. Much like Dar, Ireland will be looking for her to fulfill both her roles and help her team to the win.

Who Said What:

"Of course we are looking forward for the next games, and hopefully the other team players, they can do better for the next games, and as I said, we performed in bits and pieces, so we could perform in better way and in three parts, like bowling, fielding and batting. So we could have better plays on our team and the overall performance."- Nida Dar

"Look, as I said, we'll just have to keep moving on and head into the next game, Pakistan. I think we're really excited for that one. And as I said before, we were coming off the back of the win against Sri Lanka, and we really feel like we can cause upsets in this tournament." - Kim Garth

Conditions:

The conditions in Guyana seem to have something in it for the batters and the spinners. The conditions will probably remain pretty much unchanged from the previous matches.
