Mandhana signs bat deal with HERO, becomes 2nd Indian Eve
Just a few days after Harmanpreet Kaur became the first Indian woman cricketer to sign up a bat deal with CEAT, her teammate Smriti Mandhana too has bagged a similar endorsement contract, with HERO Motor Company. The contract comes almost five months after the Indian women’s team returned from a successful World cup campaign.

The left-hander opener signed a three-year deal with HERO and joins the likes of star cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin and Robin Uthappa. When she will walk out to bat in India’s forthcoming limited over series in South Africa, Mandhana will thus, sport the hero logo on her bat. In the past, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly and hard hitter Virendra Sehwag have also endorsed the HERO logo.

Mandhana came into the limelight when she smashed 90 (against England), and an unbeaten 106* (against West Indies), during the ICC World Cup in England last year. The talented, exciting opening batsman is a key member of the Indian team in all forms of the game. The 21-year-old Mandhana is known as the future batting sensation of the Indian team and is also the vice-captain of the Indian T20 team. She was also the second Indian cricketer after Harmanpreet, to be signed for the who was signed for the 2016-17 Women’s Big Bash League, where she played for Brisbane Heat. She is also among the most followed women cricketers in India along with her close buddy Harmanpreet Kaur and captain Mithali Raj.

When asked to Smriti, she said, “I am delighted to be one of the few cricketers in India endorsing and playing with HERO bats. I look forward doing well for India”. At such a young age she has gone a long way and has a lot to serve the country in future. The WCZ Team hopes she continues her form and gives consistent performances for the team.

Along with Smriti Mandhana, there are also some star players who signed the various endorsement deals after the successful stint of World Cup. Her opening partner in ODI, Punam Raut has also signed the deal with the same company. Indian Captain Mithali Raj is sponsored by “DSC” ( bat company) and "Zeven" (a clothing company). Kaur's association with CEAT and Veda Krishnamurthy's association with Gray-Nicolls are also the addition in the endorsing list.
